8 Dog Friendly Cafés in Dublin

Since 2017, Dublin has come on in leaps and bounds in terms of its pet friendly offering. There is now an abundance of dog friendly restaurants, cafés and bars opening up across the city, giving you a variety of options to dine with your pooch. We’ve compiled a list below of some of our favourite spots, whether you’re looking for a coffee, a drink or a spot of lunch, you no longer have to feel guilty about leaving your pet behind.

The Fumbally Café is one of Dublin’s most talked about cafés. Based on Clanbrassil Street, this neighbourhood café is about as charming as they come. With a relaxed atmosphere, everyone is welcome at The Fumbally, including your furry friends. You can expect healthy dishes using organic ingredients with a variety of new specials each day.

CAFÉ 105

A cosy, charming and busy little café, The 105 is perfect if you’re looking for a spot of brunch or a cup of coffee. Situated on Clonskeagh Road, you and your dog will be welcome to dine in their indoor café, or alternatively at their outdoor area to the front – ideal on a sunny day.

This isn’t your typical coffee shop, but it’s certainly one to check out. Tucked away in the heart of a south Dublin on Parliament Street, Street 66 is primarily a funky live music bar but you can also stop by for a dog friendly coffee. Designed for the global citizen who enjoys good music and drinks, this LGBT spot is a big fan of dogs, so be sure to bring yours along.

Juniors is a daytime deli and Italian-influenced evening café, also known as Paulies. Based in Ballsbridge, if you’re looking for a dog-friendly café and some of the best sandwiches in Dublin, this is the place. You and your pooch can dine in their covered patio out front.

Vandal is one of the newest additions to the Iconic Offices portfolio. Located on Thomas Street, Vandal is a neighbourhood café & restaurant serving all day brunch, with a playful twist on modern classics. We are proudly a dog friendly restaurant, frequently visited by canine friends. Whether you want to dine in our indoor café, or out in our internal courtyard, we’ve got you covered.

Renowned for its large beer garden and Big Blue Bus dishing out the tastiest pizzas, The Bernard Shaw is also a café that’s ideal for grabbing lunch. Think soup and sambos, which fit in perfectly with their relaxed atmosphere. Bring you dog along and dine out in their graffiti covered back yard.

Update: With the recent announcement of The Bernard Shaw’s imminent closure, you’ll want to get your last few visits in before the end of October 2019.

Shoe Lane is an artisan coffee shop, situated right next to Tara Street station. Step back to the 1800s in this vintage café, serving nothing but great coffee and healthy snacks, cutting out all the fuss. You and your pooch will be more than welcome to stop by this quaint coffee shop and meet the exceptionally friendly staff.

And last but certainly not least, for those looking to venture a little outside of the city we recommend The Dog House in Howth. As the name suggests, this café & restaurant is frequently full of dogs and their owners dining in the covered outdoor terrace. The perfect spot for dog owners and dog lovers alike! A must try.
